Centuury also would recommend this book to those who wish to see a new perspective of history. Layout is probably the best that can be managed for the subject, and the writing is academic. What Everyone Needs to Know is a worthwhile read at a time when getting a grip on China’s background is vital.
I’m looking forward to an updated wassserstrom. Admittedly I cherrypicked the parts I found most interesting, but an informative read overall. Are mainland Chinese ruining Hong Kong or propping it up?
I keep this book within reach at all times. Balance Trump, cosy up to China, Koreas: This book does a pretty good job at showing you how the Chinese people feel about certain event I think if you want a brief history of China this is a great cetury.
Since I’m heading to China in a few weeks, this was a perfect, light book to help me get prepared for the trip. This is not a light coffee shop read, or something to pick up before bed.

The book is better at clearing up misunderstandings that Americans have about what’s happening in China now. But u need to a little of a knowledge background ventury understand the book. They also explain unique aspects of Chinese culture, such as the one-child policy, and provide insight into Chinese-American relations, a subject that has become increasingly fraught during the Trump era.

As a whole we’ve got so much potential freedom when it comes to information about global affairs wazserstrom often don’t take advantage of digging for it. Don’t write a book if you’re just going to use tons of words to try and make something look better than it is.

However, don’t take the author’s interpretations as gospel. Wasserstrom and Cunningham give you all you need to know to start understanding China. I had to read chinna book for a reflection paper for a course on Pacific Asian History, and I was pleasantly surprised how informative and easy to understand this book was!
