I’m not sure where Double Cross will take me, but I will find out as it’s next on my list to read. More like a rant of the opposite blaclman. See all 11 reviews. Highly recommend to anybody. However, he is almost killed by two more of McAuley’s minions.

I read this book for six-hour straight and didn’t tired of it. We see what they’re capable of and we’re in awe. However by keeping her at arms length Sephy fractured their relationship really badly.

Although I don’t think Jude’s actions are justified as there is nothing in the world that justifies terrorism, I find it really unfortunate that he ended up in his current position due to such strong injustices in his from such a young age. I’m reluctant to read Double Cross as Checkmate was a perfect end to a thought-provoking and emotionally charged series which I thought was absolutely superb and cannot recommend enough.
An attempt to provoke thought and to revisit the absurdities of a society ies run along lines on racial disadvantagement and the domination of one ethnic group or groups in society by another controlling ethnic almost always white group.
Callum has to leave school, and Ryan faces the gallows. Jude and Callum point their guns at each other. But if I have read it before, I’d completely forgotten everything that happened in it.
Tobey is offered the chance to earn some ready money just making a few ‘deliveries’ after he is introduced by a friend, Dan, who works for McAuley. The turmoil – emotional, physical, mental, and social – is overwhelming. The same format is used with characters alternating with each chapter and, as with the books preceding this one, the story sweeps you along and it’s difficult not to get caught up in the lives of Sephy, Callie and the rest of the family. There, they argue but then realise their mutual love.

Sephy or her full name Persephone Hadley is a Cross, with dark skin, and the daughter of a wealthy senior politician, Kamal Hadley – who later takes office as president.
It’s like if you deny a human his basic human rights, how can you expect him to have any humanity left? Jasmine and Meggie shake, cower, doubt and fear every step of their path. I loved how the author jumped in time to show Sephy and Callum’s daughter. She meets her Uncle Jude, who is still consumed with rage and wants to use her for his own revenge. Most of Meggie’s actions and such in this book just spelt desperation to me. Checkmate was one of the books that grabbed my attention in such a way that I wasn’t able to shut the book before completing it.
More people should be reading Blackman’s Noughts and Crosses series.
